How to Install a TV Wall Bracket

How to Install a TV Wall Bracket

Mounting your TV on the wall is a modern, space-saving way to tidy up your living area and create a sleek look. Proper installation of the television wall bracket ensures your screen is securely fixed and provides a comfortable TV watching experience. In this article, we’ll guide you through how to install the TV wall mount quickly, safely, and without mistakes.

1. Read the Instructions and Watch the Video

Before you begin the installation, make sure to thoroughly read the instructions that come with the wall TV bracket. We’ve described in detail all the installation steps, maximum load, and other key points.

In addition to written instructions, ONKRON offers detailed video guides for installing most of our television brackets and TV stands. You can find them on our website or social media channels. These videos provide a visual guide and help you avoid common mistakes.

Don’t skip the instructions and videos! They’ll save you time and help protect your equipment and walls from damage.

2. Choose the Right TV Mounting Height

The right height for your TV is essential for comfortable and safe viewing. Typically, the centre of the screen should be around 100–120 cm from the floor, but the ideal height depends on the TV size, your height, and the room’s specifics.

·         In the living room or recreation room, it's best to position the centre of the screen at eye level when sitting, which is usually about 100–120 cm from the floor.

·         In the bedroom, the height can be slightly lower, especially if you watch TV while lying down.

·         In offices and other public spaces, aim for the approximate eye level of a standing person or higher, typically between 170 to 210 cm.

Here are a few simple ways to find the perfect height:

·         Laser pointer or level. Sit in your usual spot (sofa, armchair), hold the pointer at eye level, and direct it horizontally at the wall. The spot where the beam hits the wall is your reference for where the centre of the screen should be.

·         Cardboard template. Cut out a rectangle to match the size of your TV and attach it to the wall with painter’s tape. Move the template up and down until you find the optimal height.

·         Painter’s tape. Stick tape on the wall to mimic the dimensions of your TV. This will give you a visual representation of how the screen will look in the room.

Tip: if you're using a tilting TV bracket, you can hang the screen a little higher — the tilt will compensate for the height and allow for easy viewing from different positions.

3. Keep in Mind Mounting Rules for Different Surfaces

Concrete and Brick

Use drills and anchors of the recommended size. Before drilling, ensure there are no hidden pipes or electrical cables in the wall.

Solid Wood

For a wooden wall or beam, you can mount TV on wall directly with screws of the right length and diameter. Make sure the wood is solid and sturdy.

Drywall

Never hang the TV mount directly onto drywall — it’s unsafe. Drywall may not be able to support the weight of the TV, leading to a fall and potential injury.

4. Ask for Help

While you can install the TV mounting bracket on your own, we recommend consulting a professional, especially if the screen is large and heavy. Professional installation reduces the risk of mistakes and increases the safety of both you and your equipment.

For larger TVs, you should have two people for mounting TV on the wall: it’s easier to hold the screen, and the risk of damaging it is minimised.

Take your time, follow the recommendations, and mount the wall bracket for TV carefully.

In Conclusion

Installing a TV bracket for wall is easier than it seems, but it does require focus and attention to detail. Read the instructions and watch the videos, choose the best height, take the wall’s characteristics into account, and, most importantly, prioritise safety.
